Senior Systems Engineer – Enfield, London

Important: Due to the nature of this work, candidates must be British citizens or hold dual British citizenship and be eligible for UK Security Clearance.

About the Role

In this senior role, you’ll take ownership of systems design, integration, and testing across multiple defence and technology projects. You’ll work closely with talented engineers across software, mechanical and electrical disciplines, ensuring systems move seamlessly from concept through to delivery. This is a customer-facing position, providing the opportunity to represent high-profile projects both within the business and externally.

Key Responsibilities

  * 

    Lead systems design, integration, and verification activities.

  * 

    Support the full system and product lifecycle, from early concept through delivery.

  * 

    Collaborate across technical disciplines to ensure robust, integrated solutions.

  * 

    Produce high-quality technical documentation, specifications, and reports.

  * 

    Mentor and guide junior colleagues.

  * 

    Engage with external stakeholders and customers professionally, including occasional UK and international travel.

About You

  * 

    Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics (or equivalent experience).

  * 

    Strong experience within systems engineering, ideally in defence, radar, or communications-related systems.

  * 

    Understanding of multidisciplinary engineering principles.

  * 

    Experienced in planning and delivering engineering work packages to time, cost, and quality.

  * 

    Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.

  * 

    Computer literate with strong attention to detail and technical accuracy.

  * 

    Full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel as required.

Desirable Experience

  * 

    Knowledge of radar, radio, or navigation systems.

  * 

    Experience across the full product lifecycle.

  * 

    Familiarity with communications protocols (e.g., RS485, TCP/IP, CANBus).

  * 

    Exposure to test houses and verification standards (MIL STD, Def Stan, IEC).

  * 

    Use of test equipment such as oscilloscopes or spectrum analysers.

  * 

    Familiarity with EMC, electronics, and ESD environments.

  * 

    Membership of a professional engineering body (IMechE, IET, INCOSE).
