Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer to support the delivery of a major groundworks and civil engineering package on a large-scale construction project in the South West.

The role is with a well-established Bristol-based civil engineering and groundworks contractor, known for delivering complex schemes across sectors including commercial, infrastructure, residential, and regeneration projects. The business specialises in enabling works, earthworks, groundworks, drainage, RC structures, and full civil engineering packages, with a strong reputation for delivering projects safely, on programme, and to a high standard.

The Role

As Site Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of setting out and surveying, supporting the delivery of the groundworks and infrastructure elements of the project.

This is a key role on site, requiring someone confident working independently, managing their own workload, and ensuring accuracy across all engineering activities.

Key Responsibilities

  * Setting out for groundworks, drainage, foundations, and infrastructure

  * Carrying out surveying and site control

  * Producing and maintaining accurate as-built records

  * Interpreting technical drawings and specifications

  * Supporting site management and subcontractors with technical guidance

  * Ensuring works are delivered in line with design tolerances and programme

  * Assisting with QA processes and site documentation

  * Liaising with engineers, managers, and subcontractors

Requirements

  * Proven experience as a Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer

  * Strong background in groundworks and civil engineering packages

  * Ability to work independently on a busy site

  * CSCS Card – Essential

  * Good understanding of surveying and setting out processes
