Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated Specialist Tutor / Outreach Worker to support a high-ability Year 11 student based in the W10 area, within the catchment of a local teacher-training college. The role involves a blend of home tutoring, online sessions and limited in-school support. The student has severe anxiety and selective mutism, and requires a calm, warm, empathetic approach. The role is suited to someone experienced, patient, and passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
CONTRACT DETAILS
Location - Home-based, online, and limited in-school support across local area
Position - Specialist Tutor / Outreach (Year 11)
Type of work - 1:1 Core Subject Tuition (English, Maths, Science) & Outreach Support
Contract or position start date - ASAP (Week 10 start acceptable)
Duration / Likely Duration - Until the end of the academic year
Contract or position end date (if applicable) - Ongoing
Contract type (temp/perm/temp to perm) - Temporary
Full time/part time - Part-time / variable hours depending on students needs
Minimum rate of pay - Competitive, dependent on experience
Hours - Flexible (combination of home visits, online sessions, and limited school hours)
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience working with children and young people, particularly those with anxiety, selective mutism or school refusal.
· Strong subject knowledge in English, Maths and Science (KS4/GCSE).
· Calm, empathetic, relationship-based approach.
· Up-to-date safeguarding training issued in the last year.
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
· Hold Right to Work in the UK.
· Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
· Provide two professional child-related references that cover the last 2 years.
