Are you a highly skilled Support Worker or Specialist Instructor ready to make a profound difference in the lives of teenagers with Complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?
Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a dedicated professional to join the pastoral and inclusion team at a dynamic alternative provision in Wigan, delivering essential, targeted support to help students thrive academically and personally.
The Role: Targeted Intervention for Teenagers
You will provide intensive, hands-on support for students aged 11-16 who face significant emotional and behavioural barriers to learning. This is a role that requires calm, consistency, and a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Intensive Intervention: Deliver 1:1 or small group sessions focusing on social skills, emotional regulation, and functional academic skills, guided by EHCPs and behaviour support plans.
Behaviour and SEMH Support: Use restorative approaches to manage complex behaviour, de-escalate crises, and support students' reintegration into learning.
Mentorship: Build strong, professional, and trusting relationships, guiding vulnerable students toward positive choices and engagement.
Specialist Expertise: Support students with Autism (ASC), ADHD, anxiety, and school refusal.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with SENCO, pastoral staff, and teaching teams to ensure cohesive, holistic support.Essential Skills & Experience
Relevant Experience: Extensive experience working with secondary-aged young people (11-16) with Complex SEMH, Challenging Behaviour, or Multiple SEND, ideally in a PRU, Alternative Provision, or specialist mainstream unit.
De-escalation Skills: Proven ability in safe behaviour intervention and crisis management (formal training such as Team Teach, MAPA, or similar highly desirable).
Instructional Aptitude: Ability to deliver focused interventions in core subjects (functional literacy/numeracy) or life skills.
