Job Description

We are currently supporting a growing specialist supported housing charity to appoint an experienced Supported Housing Manager to lead the operational delivery of its housing services across Plymouth and surrounding areas.

The organisation provides supported living accommodation for individuals with complex needs, delivering safe, stable housing that helps people build independence and improve their lives. As the organisation continues to grow and strengthen its housing function, this role will play a key part in professionalising and developing housing operations.

The Role
This is a hands-on operational Supported Housing Manager role responsible for ensuring the smooth and compliant delivery of supported housing services.
You will oversee the day-to-day housing operations, managing a small team consisting of two Housing Officers and a Housing Assistant, while working closely with care teams, social workers and external partners to ensure residents receive high-quality housing services.

The role will be primarily based in Plymouth, with occasional travel to services across Devon and Cornwall when required.
A key part of the role will be maintaining strong oversight of property compliance and housing standards, ensuring all homes remain safe, well-maintained and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities of a Supported Housing Manager:

Lead, manage and develop a small housing team, fostering a positive and professional service culture
Oversee tenancy and housing management across supported housing services
Ensure properties meet all housing compliance and safety standards, including fire safety, damp and mould management, and health and safety requirements
Manage contractors, maintenance works and property budgets
Work collaboratively with care providers, social workers and external stakeholders
Maintain strong operational oversight of housing processes including tenancy sustainment and safeguarding
Support service performance monitoring, reporting and continuous improvement
Contribute to the ongoing development and strengthening of the organisation’s housing functionAbout You
Our client is seeking someone who combines strong housing expertise with excellent people skills and confident operational leadership.
The successful candidate will be someone who can build strong relationships, lead a team effectively and ensure high standards of housing management and compliance.

You will ideally have:

Experience working within housing or supported housing services
Previous team management or supervisory experience
A strong understanding of housing operations and tenancy management
Knowledge of housing compliance and property safety requirements, including fire safety and damp and mould management
Experience managing contractors and property maintenance
The ability to work collaboratively across housing, care and partner organisations
A CIH qualification (Level 4 or above) or working towards one would be advantageous, though not essentialThe Opportunity
