Job Description

We are supporting a leading multidisciplinary consultancy in the search for an Assistant / Project Manager to join their growing team. The consultancy has a strong portfolio across the energy and infrastructure sectors, delivering high-value projects through a range of frameworks, flagship schemes, and major infrastructure programmes.

They are seeking talented individuals to join the team working alongside a leading UK energy organisation, supporting projects across renewable energy generation, electricity network upgrades, battery storage facilities, and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.

There is a strong emphasis on structured learning and development, including industry-leading support for professional qualifications such as APC, with dedicated mentors, assessors, and a clearly defined training framework designed to support chartership progression.

Role Overview

The Assistant Project Manager will be based within the consultancy but seconded into a leading UK energy organisation, working as part of a wider project management team delivering major infrastructure and low-carbon energy programmes.

The role will support the delivery of complex energy projects including renewable generation assets such as wind farms, battery storage systems, electricity network modernisation, and EV charging infrastructure. Working under NEC contract frameworks, the position will involve supporting project coordination, governance, and administrative delivery across multiple workstreams.

This is a hybrid role, typically requiring 2-3 days in the office with the remainder working remotely, with he position is based in Birkenhead. .

Key Responsibilities

Support Project Managers in the coordination and delivery of major energy infrastructure projects

Assist with day-to-day project administration, reporting, and document control

Maintain project programmes, trackers, and key milestone schedules

Support NEC contract administration processes where required

Coordinate with internal teams, client stakeholders, and external contractors

Prepare agendas, meeting minutes, and action logs for project meetings

Assist in monitoring risks, issues, and change control processes

Provide general project support to ensure effective delivery across multiple workstreams

Training & Development

The organisation offers strong professional development support, including structured APC training with:

Dedicated mentors and assessors

Regular technical training sessions and workshops

A clear competency framework aligned to chartership progression

Ongoing support towards achieving professional accreditation (e.g. MRICS)
