Job Description

A respected specialist in passive fire protection—delivering high-quality firestopping, compartmentation and compliance-led solutions across major UK construction projects—is seeking a Commercial Manager to join its expanding Major Projects team.

The Role

This is a key commercial leadership position overseeing large-scale passive fire protection packages across complex construction environments. You will take ownership of commercial performance, cost control, reporting, and subcontractor management while supporting strategic project delivery across high-value schemes. You’ll work closely with senior leadership, project teams, and clients to ensure commercial accuracy, contract compliance, and robust financial management. The role is initially office-based 5 days a week in Southwark, with hybrid flexibility offered once settled.

Key Responsibilities

  * Leading commercial management across multiple major projects

  * Full ownership of cost planning, forecasting, valuations and final accounts

  * Procurement and management of subcontractors and supply chain partners

  * Oversight of variations, change control and commercial risk

  * Ensuring contractual compliance across firestopping, compartmentation and associated disciplines

  * Supporting project strategy, reporting, and commercial governance

  * Providing mentorship and guidance to Assistant/Junior QS staff

About You

  * Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor working with a fire protection specialist contractor

  * Strong commercial and contractual understanding, particularly within high-compliance sectors

  * Ability to manage multiple project packages and deadlines

  * Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills

  * Proactive, organised and commercially focused
