Job Description

Mechanical Commissioning Lead - Data Centre Location: Germany Salary: Up to €120,000 Employment: Permanent Sector: Data Centres / Critical Infrastructure A leading international engineering contractor is expanding its German delivery team and is looking for an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Lead to join a major data centre project. With a significant portfolio of projects secured for the next 5+ years, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commissioning professional looking for long-term stability, career progression and the chance to work on technically advanced data centre projects. The Opportunity As Mechanical Commissioning Lead, you'll take ownership of the mechanical commissioning process from planning through to final system sign-off. You'll work closely with project management, engineering, planning and commercial teams, while coordinating specialist vendors and commissioning engineers to ensure systems are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required client standards. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement detailed mechanical commissioning plans Review IFC drawings, specifications and technical submittals Coordinate commissioning activities with planners, package engineers and specialist vendors Attend client commissioning meetings and maintain project alignment Define system boundaries, benchmarks and commissioning requirements Review and approve commissioning checklists, scripts, test packs and documentation Coordinate and witness commissioning activities Lead system walkdowns, tag walks and system sign-off Manage commissioning trackers, logs and weekly progress reports Identify, manage and close out commissioning snags Coordinate specialist vendors and ensure activities remain aligned with programme Ensure client training is completed on schedule Identify commissioning risks and communicate potential programme impacts Work alongside Project Management and Commercial teams on commissioning-related matters Mentor and support junior commissioning engineers What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who can take genuine ownership of commissioning and operate confidently within a large, fast-paced construction environment. You should have: Strong mechanical commissioning experience Previous experience leading commissioning activities or teams Experience delivering large-scale, complex engineering or construction projects Strong understanding of mechanical systems, testing and commissioning processes Experience coordinating specialist subcontractors and vendors Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation Strong organisational and reporting skills Excellent communication skills A proactive approach to identifying issues and driving them through to resolution Data centre experience is highly advantageous, although candidates with strong mechanical commissioning leadership experience from other mission-critical or technically complex environments will also be considered.
