About the Opportunity
Astro Education is currently recruiting Key Stage 1 (KS1) Teachers to support primary schools in Sandbach and the surrounding Cheshire area.
We are working with a number of local primary schools who are looking for reliable and enthusiastic teachers to provide day-to-day supply and long-term cover within Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms.
Supply teaching offers a fantastic opportunity to gain experience across different schools, maintain flexibility and achieve a healthy work-life balance, while continuing to make a positive impact in the classroom.
This role would suit experienced teachers, Early Career Teachers (ECTs), or teachers returning to the profession who are looking for flexible work within supportive local schools.
Locations We Cover
We work with schools across Cheshire East and surrounding areas, including:
Sandbach, Crewe, Nantwich, Congleton, Macclesfield, Holmes Chapel, Alsager, Winsford, Middlewich and Northwich.
Many of the schools we work with are within 20–30 minutes of Sandbach, making them easily accessible for teachers living in nearby towns.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver engaging and effective lessons within Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and Year 2)
• Follow lesson plans and ensure continuity of learning during teacher absences
• Manage classroom behaviour and create a positive learning environment
• Support pupils of varying abilities to achieve their potential
• Work collaboratively with school staff and follow safeguarding procedures
Requirements
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Experience teaching within Key Stage 1
• Strong classroom management skills
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• A passion for education and supporting young learners
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Eligibility to work in the UK
