Location: Blackpool, Lancashire (Local Secondary Schools) Salary: £102.83 - £121.83 per day (Paid to Scale) Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term (Temp-to-Perm) Start Date: September 2026 (Early starts available June/July 2026) Are you currently working in Children's Residential Care and looking to move into a school-based role? Do you want to swap long shifts and sleep-ins for school hours, while still making a massive impact on the lives of vulnerable young people? We are seeking Residential Support Workers to transition into Pastoral Cover roles within Blackpool secondary schools. Your unique experience in managing complex behaviours and high-level safeguarding is exactly what our schools need. Why Your Residential Skills are Perfect for Schools The transition from a residential home to a school environment is one of the most successful career moves in education. Your transferable skills include: De-escalation Expertise: You are already a specialist in managing challenging behaviours and emotional outbursts with a "trauma-informed" lens. Boundaries & Rapport: You know how to build trust with "hard-to-reach" teenagers while maintaining professional boundaries. Resilience: You have the thick skin and calm temperament required for the fast-paced nature of a Blackpool classroom. Safeguarding Knowledge: You are already an expert in spotting signs of risk and following strict reporting protocols. The Role: Cover & Pastoral Lead Classroom Management: Covering lessons for students aged 11-16, ensuring a calm and productive environment. Pastoral Intervention: Working with the school's "Inclusion" or "Bridge" units to support students who have been removed from class. Crisis Support: Acting as a key member of the behaviour team to support students in moments of crisis. Mentorship: Using your 1-on-1 experience to mentor students with EHCPs or SEMH needs. What We Offer Better Work-Life Balance: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. No nights, no weekends, no bank holidays. Our schools want to hire residential experts permanently as Pastoral Leads or HLTA's. Blackpool Community: Work in local schools where your skills can directly improve your community. Requirements Proven experience working in a Child Residential Home or LAC (Looked After Children) setting. A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is highly desirable but not essential. A "Team-Teach" or "MAPA" qualification (preferred, but we can provide training).
