Job Description

Teaching Assistant (Permanent, Full-Time) Location: Cranleigh Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience) Hours: Full-time, permanent - Starting September 2026 or before About the Role We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to join a specialist education setting supporting children and young people aged 5–19 with complex learning needs, including autism and associated difficulties. This is a rewarding opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering a highly personalised curriculum supported by an integrated therapeutic approach. The setting places a strong emphasis on communication, independence, and preparing learners for life beyond education. Key Responsibilities Support students in both classroom and community-based learning environments Work closely with teachers and therapists to deliver individualised learning programmes Promote communication, social interaction, and independence skills Provide pastoral care and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment Assist with behaviour support strategies tailored to individual needs Support students with personal care needs, including toileting, hygiene, dressing, and feeding, delivered with dignity and respect Encourage participation in life skills and enrichment activities About You We are looking for individuals who are: Passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs Patient, resilient, and empathetic in their approach Comfortable supporting personal care needs as part of a holistic role Strong team players with excellent communication skills Adaptable and willing to learn new strategies and approaches Ideally experienced in SEN, care, or education settings (not essential – training provided) Able to travel to a rural/less accessible location; access to a vehicle is highly desirable What We Offer A supportive and values-driven working environment Opportunities for ongoing professional development and training Access to a multidisciplinary team including therapy specialists The chance to make a meaningful impact on young people’s lives Career progression opportunities within a growing organisation About the Setting This specialist provision supports a small cohort of learners with complex needs through a highly personalised and therapeutic approach to education. Many students have autism and require tailored support to access learning and develop independence skills. Safeguarding This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. The organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position.
