Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Autism Support | Didsbury, South Manchester

Qualification: Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant desirable

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding long-term role in a supportive primary school?

We are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Didsbury, South Manchester, from September 2026. The successful candidate will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a child with Autism within a Year 2 classroom.

The Role:

Provide 1:1 support to a child with Autism throughout the school day

Support the child with their learning, engagement and development

Help promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

Work closely with the class teacher and wider support team

Encourage the child's independence and participation in classroom activities

Adapt support to meet the individual needs of the child

The Ideal Candidate:

Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable

Previous experience working in a UK Primary School is essential

Experience supporting children with Autism or additional needs is highly desirable

Patient, nurturing and empathetic approach

Strong communication and behaviour management skills

Able to build positive relationships with children

Reliable, proactive and committed to supporting the child's development
