Job Description

Yard Manager (Fencing & Landscaping)

Location: Durham

Hours: 49 hours per week (starting at 6:00am)

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

About the Role

Yard Manager to oversee the daily operations of our clients busy yard.

The successful candidate will ensure that our teams are loaded, equipped, and ready to deliver high-quality work across all sites.

This is a demanding, hands-on role that requires strong leadership, discipline, and attention to detail — ideally suited to someone with a military background or similar experience in structured, fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and coordinate the morning loading of all operational teams:

32 gangs of fencers

2 gangs of bricklayers

2 gangs of soft landscapers

Manage all incoming and outgoing materials:

Process and assign Goods Received Notes (GRNs) in the system

Maintain accurate stock control and reporting (approx. £300,000 in stock at any one time)

Record and reconcile all materials issued to teams

Liaise with suppliers, delivery drivers, and internal teams to ensure smooth daily operations

Use internal software systems for tracking stock, deliveries, and allocations

Lead by example — maintaining discipline, structure, and efficiency across the yard

Skills & Experience Required

◾ Proven experience in yard, warehouse, or logistics management

◾ Ex-military or similar background highly desirable — must be structured, organised, and confident leading others

◾ Strong computer literacy — ability to use operational and stock management software

◾ Excellent communication and leadership skills

◾ Ability to manage multiple teams and priorities under time pressure

◾ Forklift license or willingness to obtain one preferred
