Our client, a well-established and forward-thinking manufacturing organisation, is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead day-to-day operations and drive a culture of excellence across the production floor. This is a key leadership appointment for someone who can combine strong people management with a proven ability to implement and sustain continuous improvement strategies.
This role would suit an influential and hands-on leader with a track record of delivering operational performance improvements through coaching, engagement, and structured change initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strong, visible leadership to production teams, ensuring clear expectations, accountability, and engagement.
Lead, motivate, and develop a multi-skilled workforce, fostering a high-performance culture.
Manage staffing levels, performance reviews, training, and succession planning.
Promote a collaborative working environment, resolving conflict and supporting team wellbeing.
Oversee daily production activities to ensure targets for safety, quality, cost, and delivery are consistently met.
Ensure compliance with all health & safety regulations and industry standards.
Monitor KPIs and operational metrics, taking proactive action to address variances.
Collaborate with planning, quality, maintenance, and logistics teams to maintain smooth operations.
Drive and embed continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, or similar methodologies.
Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, developing solutions that improve productivity and reduce waste.
Lead CI workshops, employee engagement sessions, and structured problem-solving activities.
Implement standardised work processes and ensure documentation is maintained.
Support audits and compliance reviews, ensuring corrective actions are successfully implemented.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience as a Production Manager or in a similar leadership role within manufacturing or production.
Strong man management capability with a track record of building, motivating, and developing high-performing teams.
Demonstrable experience leading continuous improvement programmes, with measurable results.
Solid understanding of Lean principles, workflow optimisation, and waste reduction.
Confident decision-maker with excellent communication, influencing, and coaching skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
