Early Years Teaching Assistant - 1:1 SEN Support - Barnet
Full Time | Term Time Only | November/December starts
Up to £110 per day | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)
Long Term Futures are working with a warm and inclusive primary school in Barnet to appoint an Early Years Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 1 child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
This is a rewarding long-term role suited to someone with Early Years or Key Stage 1 experience, confident in supporting children with additional needs in a nurturing, structured setting. The school has a well-established SEN team and offers excellent support and training to staff working with pupils requiring tailored provision.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consistent 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with ASD
Use visual timetables, now-and-next boards, and communication strategies
Support emotional regulation, transitions, and engagement with learning
Collaborate with SENCo, class teacher and therapists to follow the EHCP
Encourage independence while supporting social and language development
Assist with personal care if required (training provided)Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children in EYFS or KS1
Understanding of autism and sensory needs in early years settings
A calm, consistent and child-centred approach
Ability to build trust and routine through structure and positive reinforcement
Knowledge of PECS, Makaton or other communication systems (desirable)Location and Transport - Barnet, North London
Easily accessible via High Barnet, Totteridge & Whetstone and Finchley Central
