SEN Teaching Assistant (Challenging Behaviour) – Barking & Dagenham

Location: Barking & Dagenham
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:30am – 4:00pm)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Long-term

A primary school in Barking & Dagenham is looking for a strong SEN Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with ASD and challenging behaviour. This is a full-time role ideal for someone confident, resilient, and skilled in behaviour management.

Role Responsibilities:

  * 

    Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with ASD and behavioural needs.

  * 

    Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques.

  * 

    Help the pupil stay engaged, focused, and accessing the curriculum.

  * 

    Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and behaviour team.

  * 

    Maintain a calm, inclusive and structured learning environment.

Requirements:

  * 

    Experience supporting pupils with ASD, SEMH, or challenging behaviour.

  * 

    Strong behaviour management and a calm, consistent approach.

  * 

    Ability to build trust and support emotional regulation.

  * 

    Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply).
